MP3 At 3PM: Purling Hiss

When Philadelphia native Mike Polizze isn’t busy with his band Birds Of Maya, he’s off working on his solo project, Purling Hiss. However, he doesn’t stray too far from his group’s rough-around-the-edges style, as you’ll hear on his newest album, Public Service Announcement (Woodsist). For example, the artfully off-kilter “Don’t Even Try It” will remind you of listening to your parents’ ill-cared-for Velvet Underground records on a dusty, ancient player. Polizze will support the record’s October 26 release on a U.S. tour with fellow Philadelphian Kurt Vile.
