Film At 11: Blitzen Trapper

Portland, Ore., experimental indie-rock sextet Blitzen Trapper has released the video for the dreamy “The Tree,” from Destroyer Of The Void (Sub Pop). A mashup of Jack and the Bean Stalk, Norse mythology and Goldilocks, it’s replete with twinkling dandelion puffs wafting around a gaggle of children frolicking up and around a mossy, Sears Tower of a tree. The imagery is fitting for the folksy, Dylan-esque vocals in tandem with the lullaby voice of singer Alela Diane and soft, nostalgic, country-ballad instrumentals. The tune sounds like something you’d hear at a music festival set on a farm in rural Pennsylvania with arts and crafts and legit kettle corn.
