North Carolina floppy-hatted trad-rockers Megafaun recently released a six-song mini album, Heretofore (Hometapes), which comes on the heels of 2009 breakthrough Gather, Form, And Fly. “Carolina Days” is a tight little song that bounces with classic-rock hubris while still gushing with that ragged folk-pop vibe that the bearded lads of Megafaun always seem to bring to a performance. The lyrics provide a nice ol’ American travelogue, but the production brings a seasoned sheen and a possible hint of travelled maturation for the band.
