We’ve been fans of East River Pipe since around the time MAGNET started back in 1993. F.M. Cornog’s back story (homelessness, substance abuse, etc.) is certainly compelling, but from the start, the real draw for us was the music itself. His home-recorded songs document the seedy side of America as well as any pulp novel or film, and he has quietly become one of indie rock’s most-respected elder statesmen. (Cornog’s songs have been covered by the likes of David Byrne, Lambchop, the Mountain Goats and Okkervil River.). Plus the guy works at The Home Depot.
