Dead Meadow is the coolest band on the planet, primarily because it was namechecked in an episode of HBO’s The Wire, a.k.a. The Greatest TV Show Ever. (OK, so DM frontman Jason Simon is the nephew of the show’s creator, David Simon; get over it.) Anyway, Simon (Jason, not David) recently issued his self-titled solo debut via the Tee Pee label, and it’s a mostly acoustic affair that’s much folkier than Dead Meadow but is still psychedelic enough to appeal to that band’s fans. Here’s the Simon Chan-directed video for album track “Good Hope Road,” which was shot in a barn behind Simon’s house and features a handful of his “friends.”
