On August 2, Fruit Bats are back with Tripper (Sub Pop). The fifth album from Eric D. Johnson was recorded at WACS Studio in Los Angeles with Thom Monahan (Devendra Banhart, Pernice Brothers, Vetiver). You might know Johnson as a hired gun for the likes of Califone, Vetiver and the Shins or from his soundtrack work for Ceremony and Our Idiot Brother. He is also set to host the second annual Huichica Music Festival at the Sonoma Valley’s Gundlach Bundschu Winery, featuring the Fruit Bats, J Mascis, Sonny & the Sunsets, Richard Swift and more. Speaking of Mascis, download non-Tripper track below, which features the Dinosaur Jr frontman collaborating with Johnson.
