Dan Deacon has been keeping busy this year, working with Francis Ford Coppola on the score and soundtrack for his new film Twixt. While we wait for the movie’s release, Carpark Records is reissuing two of Deacon’s early works, Meetle Mice and Silly Hat Vs. Eagle Hat (both from 2003), on double LP on September 13. The two albums, along with 2007’s Spiderman Of The Rings and 2009’s Bromst, will be available as limited-edition cassettes at shows and via the Carpark online shop … Neon Indian’s follow-up to his 2009 debut, Psychic Chasms, is out September 13 via Alan Palomo‘s Static Tongues imprint. Era Extraña will be supported this fall with a North American tour … On August 2, the Decemberists are releasing an exclusive eight-song iTunes session, featuring reimagined songs spanning the band’s decade-long career. It’s available for pre-order now … Fans of Metric who participated in the group’s remix contest for 2009’s Fantasies (and won) will see their remixes issued as a deluxe, limited-edition vinyl boxed set on October 11. The proceeds from Fantasies Flashbacks are going to the Center for Addiction and Mental Health … The new record from Jack’s Mannequin, People And Things (Warner Bros.), is being released October 4, with pre-order bundles starting August 2. The band will embark on a co-headlining tour with Guster this summer … Cobra Starship has announced its new album, Night Shades (Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen), which is out August 30 … On September 20, Matthew Sweet will issue Modern Art (Missing Piece) … Working In Tennessee is the new album from Merle Haggard, due out October 4 via Vanguard Records … On September 20, Legacy is releasing the Miles Davis Quintet‘s Live In Europe 1967: The Bootleg Series Vol. 1, a three-CD/DVD package featuring rare and previously unreleased recordings from the group’s performances at the Newport Jazz Festival in Europe … Jens Lekman’s new EP, An Argument With Myself, will be released via Secretly Canadian on September 20 … Fantômas—the supergroup of Mike Patton, Buzz Osborne, Trevor Dunn and Dale Crover—is set to release a DVD of its 2008 New Year’s Eve performance. The Director’s Cut Live: A New Year’s Resolution is out September 6 via Ipecac Recordings.
