Film At 11: Bear Hands

“High Society” is off Bear Hands‘ debut album, Burning Bush Supper Club (Cantora), and its video was directed by guitarist Ted Feldman and Andrei Bowden-Schwartz. Says Feldman, “Andrei and I had this idea to make a ‘video mosaic’: a collection of videos playing simultaneously that together make up one larger video image, like a moving Chuck Close portrait. We didn’t know if it was possible, so we called our friend and tech guru Bob Weisz and talked it out. He said that he thought it would blow up the computer but that he would try. So, I made my band play the same song a thousand times, we shot it from all different angles, and Andrei and I joined Bob in New Orleans to edit the thing and see if it could work. We developed the idea, and despite the many many hours it took for our computers to process all the information, we ended up accomplishing what we had set out to. Every tiny box onscreen is its own video, and we’re all still friends.” Watch the clip for “High Society” below, and catch Bear Hands on tour throughout September, October and November.
