While the reunited classic lineup of longtime MAGNET fave Guided By Voices was touring over the past year, Robert Pollard and Co. secretly recorded an album in various members’ houses and garages. The 21-track Let’s Go Eat The Factory is out January 1, and there’s already rumblings about a second album due in May that’s been written but not recorded yet … In the wake of Alex Chilton’s death last year, the remaining members of Big Star decided to play their scheduled show at The Levitt Shell in his honor. The recordings from that performance, Big Star With John Davis: Live Tribute At The Levitt Shell is available digitally via Ardent… To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Throwing Muses’ eponymous debut album, the first-ever compilation of the band’s work was just released by 4AD. The 21-song Anthology’s initial limited release features a 22-track bonus CD of b-sides and rarities … Get in the holiday season early this year with the October 25 release of The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year (Rhino). It’s out via Concord Records on November 15 … Dwight Twilley’s new album, Soundtrack, will be released on October 4 via Varese Sarabande … Rhino Handmade is issuing the recordings from Iron Butterfly’s NYC concert debut on October 18. Fillmore 1968 is a two-disc set of previously unreleased performances from four shows … Love’s previously unreleased 1973 album, Black Beauty, will finally see the light of day this fall via High Moon Records … Due out November 15 on Smalltown Superjazz is Live At The South Bank, which was recorded at Kieran Hebden, Steve Reid and Mats Gustafsson’s 2009 performance at the Meltdown Festival in London … Two albums by ’90s MAGNET fave EdselThe Everlasting Belt Co. and Detroit Folly—were just made available digitally for the first time by Comedy Minus One.
