Film At 11: Reading Rainbow

Reading Rainbow‘s video for “Dead End” is lo-fi to the fullest. It’s definitely no HD, but the band doesn’t need to outshine its psychedelic garage rock. In fact, Reading Rainbow lays it all on the table, what you see is what you get, and that’s a beautiful thing. Watch more than three minutes of flashy lights shining over the Philly group cranking out effortless melodies, all shot with a grainy-VHS style, of course. And those extra pixelated shots? The band says it used a “PXL 2000 Fisher Price toy camera that records directly on to cassette tapes.” “Dead End” is from a split seven-inch with Super Wild Horses that’s available via the HoZac Hookup Club or at live shows.
