Life is the inspiration for art, and Gold Leaves‘ Grant Olsen sure had a lot going on in his life. With marriage, a trip to South America and a tragic passing of one of his loved ones, his ever-changing life inspired his newest album, The Ornament (Hardly Art). The LP is as influenced by British oldies as it is by more modern string and piano arrangements. The title track from the album has a ’60s feel, a throwback to an older era with some modern melancholy thrown in. Olsen, best known as half of Arthur & Yu, is currently touring with A.A.
