Somehow the strange science experiment in country music known as Lambchop became successful, and the group is about to release 11th LP on February 21, Mr. M (Merge). Album track “If Not I’ll Just Die” starts out with sleepy, soothing violins and transitions into a warm, ’20s-speakeasy vibe. It’s not a stretch to imagine Lambchop owning their own smoky jazz club and churning out tunes like this for the rest of their lives, punctuating the music world with a special brand of dreamy alternative country.
