The video for M. Ward‘s “The First Time I Ran Away” is a refreshing break from today’s bigger-is-better mentality. Depicted in gorgeous animation and a muted color palette, the clip follows a boy as he leaves home accompanied by his pet fish and an adorable llama. The whimsical storyboard perfectly compliments Ward’s airy soundscapes, without coming across as too childish. The only bad thing about this three-minute video is that it’s over all too soon.
