Blood pours from noses, trickles down tree trunks and drains into the ocean in Shearwater’s new video for “You As You Were.” Equal parts Where The Wild Things Are and complex feelings (of longing, wrath and all the good stuff that comes with an album called Animal Joy), the clip is undeniably surreal, yet still moving on a primal, weird level. The majestic, powerful music matches its poetic video perfectly, and “You As You Were” is definitely a triumph for the one-time Okkervil River side project.
