It’s hard to cover one of the greatest modern bands in recent memory, but Sad Baby Wolf has found a way. In preparation for its first EP, SBW has released a cover of Neutral Milk Hotel’s “Everything Is.” Founded by ex-Shins member Marty Crandall, Sad Baby Wolf is a new band straight out of Albuquerque, N.M. However, instead of updating the classic song with more synths and wubs, SBW has stuck to basics, essentially offering a crisper, almost dreamier cut of the original. Of course, some of the whimsy that comes from NMH’s lo-fi production values is missing, yet overall SBW does credit to Jeff Mangum’s original. Download “Everything Is” below.
