From The Desk Of The Spinto Band’s Joe Hobson: Daisy

The members of Wilmington, Del.’s Spinto Band have been playing together since the mid-1990s, when they were still in high school. A decade and a half later finds Nick Krill (vocals/guitar), Thomas Hughes (bass/vocals), Jeffrey Hobson (drums), Sam Hughes (keyboards), Joey Hobson (guitar) perfecting pop sounds on the recent full-length, Shy Pursuit, in their newly built recording studio, scoring films, starting a record label and searching for the perfect cup of coffee. They will also be guest editing magnetmagazine.com all week. Read our brand new Q&A with Krill.

Hobson: My family has an adventurous, 13-year-old dog named Daisy. She is a Jack Russell. She only has one eye from what we think is the result of a groundhog fight. She has spent her whole life jumping over our fence and getting into who knows what. A frequent visitor to the vet, she recently she went on a magnificent journey (read: got lost) through the fields and roads of Chester County and Northern Maryland. Over the course of five days, she walked 18 miles from West Grove, Pa., south, to Northeast Maryland. She was lost 15 miles from home and almost made it to our house. From sightings we could tell that she was about a mile off target west. She was found at a factory by a worker who brought her to their home. Daisy is going deaf and blind so it is really amazing that we ended up finding her. I hope this is her last crazy journey. She is a trooper. One of my parents’ friends made this painting of her.
