Film At 11: Jon Lindsay

Have we heard enough indie pop/rock love songs? Jon Lindsay doesn’t think so. With “After Dark,” off Summer Wilderness Program (Bear Hearts Fox), Lindsay tells a classic tale of love lost and love found. The song starts out sounding like the Postal Service, while in the first chorus Lindsay croons, “Someone hold her after dark.” And it ends with a surprisingly cool sax solo, while the chorus has morphed to, “Hold onto me after dark.” In case his lyrics don’t tell the story well-enough, the stop/start animation video, shot in multicolor saturation akin to an Apple Photo Booth effect, gives a visualization of the familiar fable. Watch the video below to remind yourself not let the “one” slip away. We are proud to premiere it on magnetmagazine.com today.
