It’s hard to be a musician from Iceland if you’re not in Sigur Rós. The only way to escape that band’s post-rock shadow is to be damn good. múm is an outfit that pulls it off. Although its work undoubtedly draws comparisons to its fellow countrymen, that shouldn’t detract from what is undeniably a beautiful and gentle sound. “0,000Orð,” off Early Birds (Morr Music) seamlessly fuses electronic syncopation with soaring horns.
