In The News: Rolling Stones, Atoms For Peace, Ultraísta, Sword, Tweaker, Laibach And More

This year, the Rolling Stones mark 50 years of rock ‘n’ roll. This milestone will be celebrated with the November 13 release of GRRR!, a collection of the band’s seminal hits from each stage of its career as well as two brand-new tracks. ESPN will also commemorate the Stones’ birthday throughout the NFL season with Legend To Legend, which will combine Monday Night Football highlights with classic Stones tracks. It kicks off tomorrow … Thom Yorke’s new project, Atoms For Peace (formed alongside Flea, Nigel Godrich, Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco), has just released its debut single, “Default,” to tide us over until the 2013 release of its as-yet-untitled debut album via XL Recordings … Speaking of Godrich and Waronker, they’ve teamed up with vocalist Laura Bettinson to form Ultraísta, which will issue its eponymous debut album October 2 via Temporary Residence Limited. Following the release, the band will play shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York … The Sword’s fourth album, Apocryphon, will be released via Razor & Tie on October 22, followed by a U.S. tour. Leading up to the release, the band will appear on Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations – The Final Tour on September 3. The segment was filmed in March at SXSW, when the group introduced Bourdain to its branded hot sauce, Tears Of Fire  … Chris Vrenna may have drummed for Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson, but his passion project has always been Tweaker, which has been in hibernation since 2004. That will change as of October 23, when new album Call The Time Eternity will be released by Metropolis … Razor & Tie will reissue the first two albums from Emerson Lake & Palmer on September 25 as three-disc deluxe editions, which will include previously unreleased mixes and outtakes … On November 6, Laibach will release An Introduction To…Laibach/Reproduction Prohibited via Mute.
