Field Report Makes MAGNET A Mix Tape

Field Report‘s warm, dream-folk sound coordinates perfectly with deep reflection over a setting sun. The band’s self-titled debut (on Partisan) is mindful of history and plays with the way the past is remembered. “Chico The American” is a testment to that: “Hey, hey, Doris Day, send my love for me now/Please, please, Glen Shirley, say hello for me now/To Chico the American.” The track pays homage to an unknown character named Chico and the “hard drinking decade of the weekends.” Check out the mix tape Field Report made MAGNET below. Says Chris Porterfield of it, “Songs are fickle things. They live a million lives. They change their meaning over time. They are loved and loathed; they are built and broken; they are fleeting and inescapable. Here’s a playlist of songwriters on songwriting and the myriad forms it takes after the song has been conjured.”
