From The Desk Of Little Hurricane’s Celeste “C.C.” Spina: Cowboy Boots

Forgive the members of blues-rock duo Little Hurricane if they describe the past year as a whirlwind. Since their first practice in drummer Celeste “C.C.” Spina’s apartment in late 2009, they’ve gone from playing for crowds they could add up on one hand to earning the title of San Diego’s best new band and landing coveted spots at South By Southwest, Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza. Despite the fuss they’ve kicked up with their live shows and debut album, Homewrecker (Unknown Breakthrough), success hasn’t translated into overconfidence. Spina will be guest editing magnetmagazine.com all week. Read our new Little Hurricane feature.

Spina: I’ve got dozens of pairs of cowboy boots. I love to find a pair of slightly used ones that are already broken in. I’ve got nearly every color there is, but my all time favorite pair are made of Python, straight from El Paso, Teaxs. It has become a tradition to place my boots in front of my kick drum during our set since I play barefoot.
