Air Review Makes MAGNET A Mix Tape

Air Review has been making moves since latest LP Low Wishes came out earlier this year. The Lone Star State band has shared the stage with the likes of the Flaming Lips and School Of Seven Bells. Air Review’s Douglas Hale has also taken the time to hook his fans up with a MAGNET mix tape, and he calls it Music For Long Drives. Check it out below.

Lord Huron “Lonesome Dreams”
It is not often that we all agree on music in Air Review. This Lord Huron record is one of the few that can get us all singing. A road staple for the band. It’s Simon And Garfunkel meets Three Amigos. Video.

Young Magic “Sparkly”
One of my favorite records of 2012. Sonically, there is so much going on, but everything is still present and tangible. And with so much freaking soul. Video.

Purity Ring “Fineshrine”
This is one of those records that you hear something new with every listen … especially on headphones. It’s sexy, melodic, freakishly intelligent pop. Video.

Small Black “Free At Dawn”
This song makes me want to be Drew Barrymore in a convertible heading cross-country to find myself amid the toils of growing into adulthood. Video.

Little Dragon “Crystalfilm”
Every time I listen to this record, I love it more. It’s simple and hypnotic, with the perfect mix of soul and pop. This video, however, is downright creepy. Video.

Chrvches “Gun”
It’s no secret I have an unhealthy affinity for female-led electro pop. Not to mention this is one the coolest videos I’ve ever seen. Some girls have all the everything. Video.

Indians “I Am Haunted”
This record is so inspiring. Indians have this crazy talent for building tension and climaxes with very little use of drums/percussion. Video.

Dan Deacon “True Thrush”
Off the record America, which is epic and chaotic, with perfectly timed melodic releases to keep things sensible. Does this makes sense? Nope. But I love it. And it’s the perfect cure for road-brain. Video.

I Break Horses “Winter Beats”
Sexy. Poppy. Landscapey. Especially perfect for long desert drives where every direction looks the same. Video.

Bethan “Breakable”
Bethan is one of those bands that makes me want to be a smarter, better songwriter. Singer Jessi James has this awesome talent for singing what’s right for the song, even if that means using her voice in a different way. As if she is just a character in the song, a part a bigger story. Video.
