Destroyer is a shapeshifter, from Dan Bejar’s experiments with rock grandeur (See: Rubies) to his head-first dive into ultra-smooth pop (See: Kaputt). His latest release, Five Spanish Songs (Merge), finds him stripped down to just guitar and romantic Spanish prose, all written by Atonio Luque of Sr. Chinarro.
