SokoLogoFrench actress/chanteuse Soko just issued her lo-fi, Leonard-Cohen-cryptic, English-language debut, I Thought I Was An Alien (Community Music), She also delighted in the method-acting process she went though for Alice Winocour’s new docudrama Augustine. SylviaPlath

Soko: Favorite poetess! She soothes my wounds by sharing hers. She is the best dark-thoughts companion because she feels so much, so hard and so real. It makes me feel a little bit less lonely. So many of her quotes reflect my life like a perfect dented mirror.

“If I didn’t think, I’d be much happier.”

“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.”

“I love too much or not at all.”
