From The Desk Of The Faint: Taoist Yoga

Nearly six years after the release of strangely desiccated 2008 album Fasciinatiion and one lengthy stroll down wait-is-this-a-hiatus-or-a-break-up? lane, the Faint has reemerged from the shadows to deliver up Doom Abuse—a vital, manic comeback triumph shellacked in an exquisite devil-may-fucking-care electro-sheen. Guitarist Dapose will be guest editing magnetmagazine.com all wee. Read our brand new Q&A with him.

Yoga

Dapose: This yoga is not Americanized yoga where you’re suppose to lose weight and burn buns off or whatever. It is based on the the yin/yang and the observations of natures energy cycles. Taoist yoga is a system of exercises utilizing all varieties of movement and stillness that are designed to balance our overall energy. I find myself trying other yoga styles from time to time, but it just makes me realize how much more beneficial Taoist yoga is. Through slow stretching and holding pose’s for 10-plus minutes, you learn how much more difficult just holding the weight of your body becomes and the need for heavy weights just seems so unnecessary. I thank Joel Dunning for teaching me this traditional Chinese healing modality.
