From The Desk Of The Dodos: VICE’s “Munchies” Channel

For five albums—starting with 2006’s Beware Of The Maniacs—there was always something playful, almost ephemeral about the Dodos, as if they might simply stop recording at any moment. But the duo just issued its crowning achievement, new sixth set Individ, which sets serious subjects to Logan Kroeber’s galloping drum beats, Meric Long’s vibrato-resonant vocals and ethereal finger-picked filigrees, on thoughtful tracks like “Darkness,” “Bastard,” “Precipitation” and an ominous “Goodbyes And Endings.” Long and Kroeber will be guest editing magnetmagazine.com all week. Read our new feature on them.

Munchies

Kroeber: Everyone loves food, and now more than ever, it’s easy to see food on TV, complete with celebrities and reality shows. Which is all well and good; a Dodos tour wouldn’t be complete without a few episodes of Diners, Drive Ins, And Dives, but if you want to watch something a little more in depth and specialized, look no further than Munchies. My favorite thing they’ve done so far is their guide to Scotland, which takes you into the natural beauty of the country as well as the late-night spots in the cities to find any and everything you’d want to eat and drink. Honorable mention goes to Action Bronson’s show Fuck That’s Delicious.
