Pond: I want to be underwater as much as possible. It’s my favorite place to mix media and metaphors in my mind. I sing “Under The Sea” to myself as I dive. Dustin Hoffman appears in his scuba suit, descending to the peace and tranquility at the bottom of the pool. And Edna walks into the Gulf of Mexico in The Awakening. “Under The Sea” keeps playing as I return to the surface. The water’s cold. But not enough to stop the paddle wheels in my mind.
