Liberman is Vanessa Carlton’s latest solo set and fifth overall. With classical-motif tracks like “Blue Pool,” “Take It Easy” and backward-masking-dense closer “Ascension,” Carlton has seriously upped her game, and is now composing complex etudes that easily eclipse her chiming Grammy-nominated hit from 2002, “A Thousand Miles.” Carlton will be guest editing magnetmagazine.com all week. Carlton: For a six-week tour, I pack five outfits in huge Ziploc bags. I learned from Martha Stewart that anything wrinkle-prone, you roll up. Always roll, never fold. For this three-and-a-half week tour, I’m taking four outfits. Shoes are always the problem. They take up too much space, so try and have all outfits go with one or two pair of shoes.
