From The Desk Of Blossoms: Sport

British quintet Blossoms is unapologetically ambitious. Rather than quietly release 2014 debut single “Blow,” the band announced it with an ardent, online manifesto. “We want to be heard by everyone,” it read, in part. “We want to be as mainstream as Will Smith, as great as the Smiths, and as uplifting as Mr. Smith Goes To Washington.” The band has just issued its self-titled debut. Blossoms will also be guest editing magnetmagazine.com all week. Read our new feature on the band.

Joe Donovan: As a kid, I used to love playing sports. I used to play field hockey every week. I was convinced I was going to be a professional hockey player, but when you turn 16 ,beer and girls become more appealing then running around an Astro-turf pitch freezing at 9 a.m. on a Saturday morning. When I was old enough/could afford it, I got a season ticket for City with Tom, and we used to go there every other weekend. I loved that. I still go to City when I’m back from touring if it fits with city playing at home and us being at home.
