MAGNET Does The Tribeca Film Fest: Spinal Tap, Michael Hutchence And Old-School Reggae

While he didn’t get into that much-talked-about 25th-anniversary screening of Reality Bites, MAGNET photographer Wes Orshoski did get to see and hear some cool music at this year’s Tribeca Film Fest. Following the 35th-anniversary screening of This Is Spinal Tap and a Q&A with the principles, David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean), Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest) and Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer) hit the stage at the Beacon Theatre for an acoustic set featuring surprise guest Elvis Costello (Declan MacManus). Tina Hutchence, sister of INXS frontman Michael, appeared at the premiere of Mystify, a new documentary about her late brother. And after a screening of Inna De Yard: The Soul Of Jamaica (a doc about reggae legends who are stars in their native country but are virtually unknown elsewhere), Ken Boothe performed a full set of his trademark songs.
