Jeff Kelly issued new album When The World Was Younger (Green Monkey) in late June, and if you missed it, we’re not surprised. The Seattle-based Kelly—as frontman of the Green Pajamas, solo and with various side projects—has released almost 50 albums since 1984, and even the most resolute Record Store Day devotee probably owns none of them. Popularity-wise, Kelly is like Bob Pollard if Bee Thousand never happened. But GBV fans take note: Uncle Jeff also has an uncanny ability to crank out innumerable, timeless, guitar-based pop songs that would’ve made him a rock ‘n’ roll star half a century ago. Kids, this club is open, too.
