In a phone conversation with David about radical Benjamin Lay (1682-1759), I mentioned that after one radio interview and the Zoom launch, I was still a bit unclear what Lay had accomplished. I wasn’t sure why he was the subject of a book rather than let’s say an African American person who had been important to the Underground Railway … for instance.
