“It was one of the first songs we tracked for our new record back in March of this year,” says Ivan & Alyosha’s Tim Wilson in reference to the Seattle quintet’s crystalline, slightly more upbeat version of the Radiohead classic “High And Dry.” “We wanted to start with something we loved—something fresh, something we knew was a great song. We’re huge Radiohead fans. They’re truly one of the greatest bands of all time, so it was just really fun and meaningful to record this song.”
It was friend and Nettwerk Music Group A&R rep Marshall Altman who encouraged the band to lock in on a great tune to get the juices flowing as they began recording their fourth release, which is still in the works.
“I remember him saying, ‘A bad song is the floor, a good song is the ceiling, a great song is the sky,’” says Wilson. “And ‘High And Dry’ is exactly that—the sky, a great song.”
We’re proud to premiere “High And Dry” today at MAGNET. Catch Ivan & Alyosha on tour now.
