Strangely, the album that this song is on feels quite recent (The Observer, 2006), while the online dating experiences my lyrics describe seem like a lifetime ago.
It was a total thrill that Jessica Hopper included her review of the album in her book The First Collection Of Criticism By A Living Female Rock Critic, which was published in 2015, while I was still considering it plausible to partner-up with a man. Now, a scant seven years later, with my paintings selling like hotcakes and a viable plan to open the Free Artist Residency For Progressive Social Change, not much is farther from my mind than the idea of a romantic relationship.
