Shana Cleveland and her non–La Luz band beguiled PhilaMOCA with gentle songs from her solo albums (including “Evil Eye,” “A Ghost” and “I’ll Never Know”) and creepy quotes from her toddler about making murders and nightmares on their way.
Maita, in her Philly debut, played a spare set that was equally deep and attuned to the wide-open vibes in the room, stretching from “Waterbearer” to “You Sure Can Kill A Sunday.”
Kicking the night off was Pouty, with its first hometown show in ages, with a clutch of energetic new tunes (the fizzy “Salty” was one highlight) that sounded fresh, fully formed and raring to be heard.
