Lo, emotional lives in previous, prototypical stages were oft set onto paper via nib and ink, sometimes something of a surprise to the recipient after all that holding of tongue in person. Time marched on, and soon song lyrics were conveyors of difficult-to-express feelings. Yet, so much depended not on “The Red Wheelbarrow” (published in the spring of 1923), but the skill of the bard. And individual interpretation.
