Kicking off Halloweekend at the Ukie Club, Squirrel Flower conjured an otherworldly essence, harmonizing with the ghost in the machine. Highlights included “Alley Light” and “Full Time Job” from Tomorrow’s Fire as well as a cover of Caroline Polachek’s “So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings.”
Truth Club channeled alt-rockers from the previous century with their smooth blend of post-punk, post-hardcore and post-Pumpkins guitar moves, while Boo Boo Spoiler—all matchy-matchy in evil clown makeup—embraced the buzz and fuzz and grunge and felt most firmly in the present tense.
