Live Review: The Salt Collective, Sneakers, Wayne, PA, Jan. 19, 2024

Though Mitch Easter couldn’t make it to the Sneakers reunion at 118 North—family emergency—it was still worth the drive out to Wayne, Pa., in wintry weather to see Chris Stamey, Gene Holder and a couple of ringers play power pop that predates the dB’s.

Even better was the Salt Collective, the French project that has flexed to fit Stamey, Holder, Lynn Blakey, Matthew Caws and Juliana Hatfield (not in attendance), among others.

Highlights: “What I Dig,” “I Knew You So Well,” “Making It Up As We Go Along” and “Not Going Back,” plus covers of Nada Surf (“Always Love”) and the dB’s (“Happenstance”).
