Connor Daly has reserved some lofty praise for his new single, “Like A River.”
“It’s one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written,” says the Nashville-based singer/songwriter. “It came out really naturally, and I didn’t want to overcomplicate it. I’ve always loved the idea in the song that, no matter what the guy did or thought he was going to do, it was all leading him to one person.”
A native of Ashburn, Va., Daly got off to an impressive start in his new hometown with Colors Fade, a 2024 favorite with the Americana crowd that received official Grammy consideration in that category. Inspired by the vivid storytelling of Jason Isbell and Zach Bryan, he recorded his latest batch of songs with multi-instrumentalist/producer David Dorn (Gabe Lee, Sophie Gault) at Nashville’s Farmland Studios. Look for a new album sometime this fall.
In the meantime, there’s the quietly poignant, modestly eloquent “Like A River” to chew on.
“I knew I wanted that opening acoustic-guitar line at the forefront, then the fiddle and upright bass,” says Daly. “It’s one of those songs where less just felt right. I think that matters in songs like this, where the story is just as important as the feel.”
We’re proud to premiere Connor Daly’s “Like A River.”
