L’chaim! To life! The Klezmatics made life a little better at City Winery Philadelphia when they celebrated their 40th anniversary and new album We Were Made For These Times. If you aren’t familiar with klezmer music, it’s rooted in Yiddish culture and is both soulful and lively. The Klezmatics—the only Grammy-winning klezmer band—are a mix of jazz, gospel, punk, classical, Latin and Balkan styles. The Klezmatics captivated the Philly audience with their dynamic range of music, from energetic, danceable selections to poignant and heartfelt ballads.
