When describing Balmorhea’s music, certain words always come to mind: lush, rich, carefully constructed. Such is the case with the first single off the band’s upcoming Stranger, “Pyrakantha,” a beautiful six-minute ambient piece. It’s a multifaceted song, constantly shifting in tempo and melody, but always maintaining an ethereal grace that has come to characterize all of Balmorhea’s work.
