From The Desk Of Mree: Favorite Clothes

MreeLogoMree’s second self-produced album, Winterwell, is a passionate blend of heartfelt acoustic folk and plush electronic textures, brought to life by her rich, multi-layered vocals. Mree’s lush harmonies float in and out of the mix like perfumed clouds, drawing you into a dizzying swirl of muted colors and ambiguous emotions. Armed with a guitar and an effects pedal that allows her to loop her vocals into an ever-shifting collage of sound, Mree is able to reproduce most of the album when she plays live. The New Jersey multi-instrumentalist will be guest editing magnetmagazine.com all week. Read our brand new feature on her.

FavoriteClothes

Mree: I love dresses. They can be comfy and casual or fancy and dressy. Either way, I always feel more put together when I have a dress on for some reason. One of my favorite places to go shopping is vintage thrift stores. (As does everyone nowadays, right?) But, really, I love finding clothes that are unique, individually made and work with my budget. For example, the dress I wore for my music video to “Into the Well” I found at Incogneeto, a cute vintage thrift store in Somerville, N.J. It was made in the ’50s (I think) with the original ILGWU (International Ladies Garment Worker Union) tag on it. My mom helped with the adjustments. Unfortunately, after swimming with it on underwater for the rest of the video shots, the chiffon mesh tore quite a bit, but it’s not beyond repair. As for shoes, my favorite are Clarks desert boots. They’re comfy, last long, and can be dressed up or down.
