The annual Joey Ramone Birthday Bash, going on its ninth year, is set for May 19 at the Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza. This year’s headlining acts are Fishbone and the Supersuckers, but the real news is that the audience will be treated to rough mixes of never-before-heard Ramone solo recordings. The tracks are being prepped for release later this year. Here’s to you, Joey … Is it just us, or is the reissuing-records-with-extravagant-packages trend getting a little out of hand? While you ponder that, we give you the news that Silvertone/Legacy will resurrect the 1988 self-titled debut by the Stone Roses (pictured) on August 11. This particular effort comes in three editions—Special, Legacy and Collectors—with features ranging from a booklet and a DVD to exclusive art prints … A more modest reissue, R.E.M.’s classic second LP, Reckoning, is out June 23 on I.R.S./A&M. The original disc has been remastered and is paired with a live CD documenting a July 7, 1984, Chicago show … Coldplay is giving away an exclusive live CD, LeftRightLeftRightLeft, to all fans attending shows on its upcoming tour, which starts May 15. The record will also be available as a free download at the band’s site. No word on whether any of the songs infringe on any other group’s live performances. Download Jon Hopkins’ “Light Through The Veins,” portions of which bookend Coldplay’s Viva La Vida … Wye Oak will release its new album, The Knot (Merge), on July 21. The follow-up to If Children was written and recorded by the duo of Andy Stack and Jenn Wasner in rural Cumberland, Md., and in its Baltimore living room. Download “Take It In” … July 7 sees the release of Music From The North Country, a Jayhawks best-of. The collection includes songs from the alt-country legends’ six studio records and—you could see this coming—is available as a single CD or a double-CD-plus-rarities set … Indianapolis’ Marmoset has signed to Joyful Noise and is prepping Tea Tornado for an August 4 release. A rare tour, with dates in the Midwest and East Coast, will follow. Download “Peach Cobbler” … Dirty Projectors’ Bitte Orca (Domino), the band’s fifth LP, surfaces June 9. A U.S. tour kicks off June 17 in Philadelphia. Word on the street is that Jimmy Rollins is a fan. Download a live version of “Stillness Is The Move” … The Black Lips’ The Drop I Hold EP is now available exclusively on iTunes. It features the original 200 Million Thousand track, plus an instrumental, a video and a new version with a verse by Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA.
