65daysofstatic makes some of the best post-rock dance beats around. Not that the Sheffield, England, quartet has a ton of competition. The venerable foursome recently released Escape From New York (Monotreme), a live CD/DVD set from its Madison Square Garden and Radio City concert dates last year with the Cure, and it’s pretty impressive. For sheer heaviness, 65daysofstatic is in a class of its own. If you missed out on seeing the band live, New York‘s “Retreat! Retreat!” is the next best thing.
