Featuring the Magnetic Fields, Four Tet, Foreign Born, Rogue Wave and Atlas Sound, among others, the festival will take place February 23 through March 1 in San Francisco … Sony Red Distribution and MRI have announced the release of Preservation Hall, an album benefiting the classic New Orleans jazz venue, with contributions from Merle Haggard, Tom Waits, Jim JamesPete Seeger, Andrew Bird and others … Fucked Up is also turning its sights toward charity, with a benefit single (a cover of ’80s holiday staple “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”) featuring Yo La Tengo, Tegan & Sara, GZA, Bob Mould, Vampire Weekend, David Cross and more. The song, out on Matador, will benefit three Canadian organizations aiming to end the disappearance and murders of Canadian indigenous women … In honor of musician Chris Knox, who suffered a stroke in his New Zealand home in June, Jeff Mangum, Yo La Tengo, the Mountain Goats, the Bats, Jay Reatard and others have come together to record Stroke: Songs For Chris Knox, a charity release out now on Merge Records … Classic bluesman T-Model Ford will issue his seventh album, The Ladies Man, on January 20 via Alive Naturalsound. Download “Two Trains” … The ever-prolific Adam Green will be releasing his sixth studio album, Minor Love, on Fat Possum Records in February. Green will also open for U.K. rockers the Cribs on their U.S. tour this January … Speaking of prolific, Drive-By Truckers have announced the forthcoming release of their 10th studio LP, The Big To-Do, out in March. The album (on ATO Records) will be the band’s major-label debut … If you need a little extra chill this winter, Sigur Rós frontman Jón “Jónsi” Thor Birgisson is sure to provide it. The Icelandic Birgisson will release his first solo album, Go, on XL Records on March 23. Download “Boy Lilikoi” … Fresh off indie hit (500) Days Of Summer, the unfairly adorable Zooey Deschanel reunites with M. Ward for Volume Two, the sophomore album by She & Him (pictured), out in March on Merge Records … Panther has officially called it quits. The R&B-tinged band will play once more before going its separate ways. On January 19, New West Records is releasing the soundtrack to upcoming film Crazy Heart, featuring original songs performed by Bridges … CSS and Tilly And The Wall will be issuing a live DVD of their recent joint tour … Suicidal Tendencies will also be releasing a DVD in January. Download “Talk To Me” … Drag City Records has announced a new Scout Niblett album, The Calcination Of Scout Niblett, out January 19 … Athens, Ga., rockers Harvey Milk will be re-releasing its newly remastered self-titled debut through Hydra Head on January 26 … In January, ex-Cocteau Twins vocalist Elizabeth Fraser is issuing Moses (Rough Trade). The EP is a tribute to Fraser friend Jake Drake-Brockman, the Echo & The Bunnymen keyboardist who was killed in a motorcycle accident in September.
