Portland, Ore.’s Jaguar Love emerged from the ashes of spazz-core legends the Blood Brothers. The band members channel the manic chaos and high-pitched squawks of their former incarnation to create an unholy concoction of demented dance punk and ’80s synth pop. Frontman Johnny Whitney wails behind throbbing dancehall beats and schizophrenic synthesizers. It’s not every day that you’ll see a band that so effortlessly straddles the line between naked aggression and pop hooks. “Up All Night” is the first peak at Jaguar Love’s yet-to-be-named album under its joint agreement with Fat Possum. The LP is due out in early 2010.
