Little Death vocalist Laura Dawn (she’s also the cultural and creative director of MoveOn.org and will be appearing in Oliver Stone’s forthcoming Wall Street sequel) has a howl that sounds like it crawled straight out of Memphis, and her backing band (featuring Moby on bass and guitar) ain’t too shabby, either. Thanks to a fair bit of swagger and a good grasp of bar-band style, the Little Death more than lives up to its name, if you know what we mean. The NYC group’s self-titled, self-released debut will be out on January 26, but the Little Death has made the thumping “Why My Baby” and the melodic “Won’t Ever Let You Down Again” available for free.
