Electro pop from Bergen, Norway, with a side of afrobeat, the catchy Casiokids are set to share their U.S. debut via Polyvinyl on June 8. The band is rumored to have been discovered by Of Montreal, and Casiokids’ forthcoming LP, Topp Stemning På Lokal Bar, is full of indie zeitgeist, buzzing synth and blippy beats. Bringing to mind the Postal Service and Peter Bjorn And John, the Casiokids’ sound is hardly foreign, but their narrative luckily is. Frontman Ketil Kinden Endresen’s choice to sing in his native tongue elicits mystery for listeners and homage to origin for the band. Interpreted into emotions and electro-clad dreamscapes, Casiokids’ anthems are best when heard by hearts and ears.
