Philly’s own Dr. Dog is one of the best bands around. Though often dubbed Beatles-esque, its sound and aesthetic is probably closer to an updated version of the Band than any other group from the ’60s, but Band-esque just doesn’t roll off the tongue in the same way. For latest effort Shame, Shame (Anti-), the Dog recruited producer Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith, Beck, GBV) and set out to capture the raw energy of its live performances.
