Film At 11: Screaming Females

It’s easy to get caught up in the apparent incongruity between the diminutive height of Screaming Females frontwoman Marissa Paternoster and the magnitude of her riffs, which sound as if they were cranked out by someone 10 feet tall. However, Screaming Females’ fourth LP, Castle Talk (Don Gionvanni), is a testament to the strength of the entire band: Paternoster’s big guitar and vocals blend seamlessly with King Mike’s incessant bass and Jarrett Dougherty’s ramshackle drumming to create an album filled with punk prowess and hard-rock snarl. Check out the video for “Laura & Marty” below, and catch Screaming Females on tour with Against Me! and Lemuria.
